June Newsletter

June is here once again and we have an array of sites to visit this month.

Coming up this weekend (16th-18th) is our family fun meet & summer fete at Runwell Hospital Sports & Social Club.
Site opens at 3pm on Friday and on Saturday we have a full program of events including our summer fete, BBQ, the traditional water fun games (prepare to get VERY wet) and refreshments in the marquee.
Camping is £10.00 per unit per night and some small additional charges for the fete, prize games, refreshments, and food may apply.

The following weekend (23rd - 25th) we make a return to Sunnybrook Farm in Felsted. Our site is close by the Flitch Way, a disused railway which is now a footpath and cycle track and with local vineyards and pubs there is plenty to do both day and night.

Our last meet in June is at the Museum of Power near Maldon. Housed in a former water pumping station, the museum contains a fascinating collection which ranges from a working overhead machine shop to a petrol powered iron. Admission charges to the museum apply. In nearby Maldon on Sunday is a classic car show with free entry.

Finally on Saturday 1st July our THS in Sea Palling, Norfolk opens. Our site is just 200 yards from the sandy blue flag beach and is open until 29th. More info http://www.eeda.co.uk/keithfarm

May Newsletter

posted 8 May 2017, 06:28 by Paul Bush

The May Madness continues with EEDA this month as our meets continue at £8.00 per unit per night.

On the 12th-14th May we visit our first new site for 2017 at the Bell Public House in Panfield near Braintree. Units camping for both Friday and Saturday nights will receive a £5 voucher for use against food purchases in the restaurant. The site also has toilet facilities available. Coming here has got to be better than staying at home watching the Eurovision finals!

Next we are attending a meet run by Eastern Region. It is their AGM and family fun weekend on the 19th-21st May. This year it is closer to home at Assington Barns near Sudbury. More details are on the Eastern Region website - http://easternregion.co.uk/LatestNews.html. Cost for this meet is £12.00 per night and includes a buffet and entertainment on Saturday evening, Cadac cook off competition during the day on Saturday, and penny fayre on Sunday morning.

Our last meet in May is at the popular Woolverstone Hall grounds just south of Ipswich. This meet opens at 5pm on Friday 26th and is open for 5 days to take full advantage of the Whitsun bank holiday, closing on Wednesday 31st.
Please do not arrive before 5pm as this is an operational school and you will not be allowed on site and risk congesting the local roads.

Moving into early June, our first meet is at The Stag public house in Little Eastern (nr Great Dunmow) over the weekend of the 2nd - 4th June. Close by that same weekend in Thaxted, is their annual Morris Festival, and we have been advised that Morris men should be visiting and likely performing at the pub during the day on Saturday.

Finally a reminder that we have our Devon Temporary Holiday Site running at Lee Meadow, near Woolacombe in Devon from Friday 25th May until 18th June. More info on our website http://www.eeda.co.uk/leemeadow or you can telephone our site direct from the 25th on 07766 403554

February Newsletter

2017 Kicked off for EEDA at our Valentines ball over the weekend of the 10/12th February and what a weekend it was. With a great turnout of units and evening visitors it made for a weekend that won't be forgotten and plans for next years ball are already underway.

Our next meet is on the 10th March at the Room in the Rodings, where we will be holding a fun & games weekend in the heated hall.
On the 17th we have our AGM weekend at Chelmer Valley School. The site opens at 6.15pm - not 5pm as in the magazine and diaries so please do not arrive before then as this is an operational school and we will not be camping in the same place we have previously. Camping for the whole weekend is just £10.00 per unit. You don't need to camp to attend the actual AGM which starts at 2pm on Saturday, but you do need to be an EEDA member to attend the meeting and you must have your membership card with you (non EEDA members are still welcome to camp). Saturday evening will bring a disco and games.
We have some committee members retiring this year, so if you would like to join the committee or would like more information, please contact our secretary Jason Bryant -
secretary@eeda.co.uk.

Later in March we have our working party at the Kelvedon Hatch Club site. All pitches are FREE, hard standing, and include EHU! This is a booked meet and booking should be made with our countryside care officer, Steve Ponton on 07958535726 after 5.30pm or by email

Easter brings us back once again to East Bergholt. Activities and entertainment are being finalised now, but you can be assured of a great fun filled weekend. With large amounts of hard standing and grass pitches this all-weather location is untroubled by rain, and with heated halls and toilets available it is always popular.

where you can see which meets we still require stewards for.

Due to circumstances beyond our control,  the EGM at Debden House to agree our accounts that could not be presented at our AGM, had to be cancelled.  This has now been re-booked for Sunday 12th February 2017 which is our Valentine's meet, and will take place at 11.00am, and should last no longer than 15 minutes.
All East Essex DA members are welcome to attend the EGM without the need to camp. Further details will appear in the 'Out and About' section of the club magazine in December.

EEDA Photo Competition Winners

posted 28 Sep 2016, 13:57 by Paul Bush   [ updated 28 Sep 2016, 14:03 ]

Earlier this year it was suggested by a member that the photo at the top of our website was aged and dated and could we change it, maybe with the seasons. The committee agreed and we ran a photo competition over the summer months for four replacement photos - spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The stipulation was that the photo's should represent DA camping, be it a quiet meet, holiday site, or social gathering.
The committee are pleased to announce the winners who each receive a free weekends camping with EEDA are;

Tony Poynter - Summer
Sharon Dunkley - Autumn
Cliff Eighteen - Spring & Winter

The 4 winning photos (edited to fit the website) are below

A message from the Chairperson

"HOWZAT"
Pleased to advise everyone that we have achieved a full committee, 12 members, treasurer and youth leaders, (CCY & CCJ).
Many thanks to those that agreed to join committee yesterday, the last couple of years have been difficult with so few on committee and this now gives us a chance to spread the load.
We had a brilliant turn out, and someone had to shout for a ruler to draw up another page in the signing in book!.
Thanks to Gill, Dave and Molfrey from Eastern Region to be on hand and make sure that the proceedings went smoothly.
Congratulations to Lauren Plumley for receiving the Regional Youth Award, putting EEDA on the map for the right reasons for once.
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you all at Easter.
Regards
Jan
